Delicious buttery, soft, melt in your mouth shortbread piggy cookies! A fun and tasty treat for the kids and yourself! Get them to help make their little piggies and build them a house while they bake! Great idea for some lockdown fun!
Piggy Cookies
125g butter softened
3 1/2 tablespoons caster sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons milk powder
4 tablespoons cornstarch
Pinch of salt
8 - 9 heaped tablespoons flour
1 drop food coloring
Chocolate for eyes
Preheat oven at 150c.
Cream butter and sugar together. Then add milk powder, salt and cornflour. Finally add in flour and form into a soft dough.
Roll into balls. Remember they will ‘grow’ during baking.
Remove 1 ball and mix with 1 drop of red food coloring. (Use a glove to do this to avoid staining hands with food coloring)
Place remaining balls into fridge for approximately 30 minutes.
Form ears and a snout with pink dough. Place into fridge when done.
After 30 minutes, remove balls and ears and snouts from fridge. Place snouts and ears on balls of dough.
Bake in oven for 15-18 minutes. Remove from oven. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before moving to cooling rack.
Melt 2 individual pieces of chocolate in the microwave. Set aside till cookies have cooled. Once cooled apply ‘eyes’ with a toothpick. Be sure to fully cool the cookies before adding chocolate eyes.
Get your kiddies to build them a house while they are baking and cooking! Enjoy a play date with piggy cookies!
Enjoy!
