A family classic that takes you right back to grandma's house. A layer of shortbread with jam and more shortbread. Quick, easy and super tasty!
Hungarian Tart
125g butter 1/2 cup caster sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla essence 1 egg 1 1/2 cups flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder Strawberry jam Icing sugar for dusting
Cream together butter and sugar till light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla essence and mix till well incorporated and creamy again.
Add flour and baking powder and mix into a soft dough. Separate dough into 2 pieces.
Press half of the dough into a baking container or glass container lined with baking paper.
Spread jam on top. Grate remaining dough over the top of the jam.
Bake for 30 min at 180˚c. Cut into squares while still warm. Once cooled dust with icing sugar.
