Grašak – Bosnian Peas Meat and Potatoes

A big thank you to my brother in laws mom for this recipe and introducing me to the beautiful cuisine of the Balkans.

Grašak – Bosnian Peas Meat and Potatoes


½ small onion diced

3 carrots sliced

2 large potatoes peeled and cut into large cubes

1 teaspoon butter

1 teaspoon olive oil

500g lean beef cubes

2 Maggie beef stock cubes

½ cup frozen peas

½ teaspoon black pepper

Hot water


Heat butter and oil in pressure cooker. Add onions and saute till translucent. Add carrots and potatoes. Mix well with butter and oil.

Add beef pieces and mix well. Add water to cover over meat and stock cubes crushed up.

Close lid and turn to high heat. Once the pot begins to whistles allow it to cook for 5 mintues before turning heat to low for 15 minutes then turn off.

Once pressure released open lid and add frozen peas and black pepper. Mix well. Turn heat to medium and cook water till reduced to half of what was in pot. Should be a thick gravy.


Serve hot. Enjoy

Cook time 30 min.
